A catalog of Speculative Playful Urban Technology
This work explores how we can design city infrastructure from the bottom up, in ways that respond to the kinds of playful and social things that make people thrive. Urban technology can cater to people's social, cultural, and emotional needs. By chasing play potentials, we found the following themes (more details in our publication):
        Discover the Invisible
        Connect with Strangers
        Fill the gaps
        Temporal decontextualization
        Urban challenges
        Prank strangers
        Massive celebrations
        Communicate at a distance
        Asynchronous communication
        Hack the street
        Customize the self
        Performative behaviors
        Pose performatively
        Admire the urban space
        Stream exciting urban ocurrences

    My Role
I co-led this design project with Ferran Altarriba Bertran. We supervised and collaborated with a small group of undergraduates and chased play potentials that lead to a catalog of speculative designs.
